Creators are people, not deliverables.

Somewhere along the way, this industry forgot that creators are people. Not ad slots. Not line items in a spreadsheet. People. Human beings.

When we talk about “deliverables,” it’s easy to lose sight of what that word really means. A deliverable is something that shows up on time, looks a certain way, and ticks a box. That mindset works when you’re ordering a print job or shipping a banner campaign. But it falls apart when you’re working with humans.

Creators aren’t here to check boxes. They’re here to create. They’re writers, directors, editors, photographers, and producers rolled into one. They spend hours shaping ideas, finding the right light, rewriting captions, and cutting 15 seconds of video until it feels right. That’s not a deliverable. That’s creative work.

Too many brands forget that. They send over a rigid brief and expect a post that fits a template, a script, and a timeline that was never realistic in the first place. Then they wonder why the content feels forced or why the creator seems disengaged. It’s because the process stripped the human element out of it.

You can’t build emotional connection through content that was designed without any.
